Gottlieb Bauer, 101, of Turtle Lake, ND went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 28, 2015.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, June 2nd at the Turtle Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Vetter officiating. Burial will follow in the Turtle Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday at Turtle Lake Baptist Church followed by a 7:00 PM Prayer Service.
Gottlieb was born March 29, 1914 on a farm east of Washburn, ND to Jacob & Lizzy (Bolender) Bauer. He married Elsie Singer on June 9, 1937 in Turtle Lake. They moved to the The Dalles, Oregon, traveling in their Model A and $35 in their possession to seek employment picking cherries. In 1942, they returned to North Dakota and bought a farm south of Turtle Lake. They made their home on the farm until October 1991 when they moved into Turtle Lake. Gottlieb was a hardworking man who loved farming and carpentry work. He helped build many houses and barns and worked several renovation jobs. He stayed active with his carpentry well into his mid-90's. Gottlieb was a longtime member of the Turtle Lake Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Eagles Club of Bismarck.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Arlene Mees of Turtle Lake, Virginia Woodworth of Bismarck, Larry (Shirley) Bauer of Bismarck, and Peggy (O'Neil) Kauk of Baldwin, ND; 9 grandchildren, Patty (Milton) Albrecht, Sheila (Stan) Olson, Brenda (Howie) Adao, Lorrie (Jerry) Pitts, Troy Woodworth, James Bauer, Kim (Robert) Nagel, Kory (Carol) Kauk, & Dustin (Jesse) Bauer; 16 great grandchildren & 5 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Dan Bauer of Bismarck; one sister, Edith Walcker of Milwaukie, OR, and many nieces & nephews.
Gottlieb was preceded in death by his wife Elsie (2004), son & daughter-in-law Verlyn & Sarah Bauer, infant daughter Irene, two sons-in-law Herman Mees & Roy Woodworth, two great grandsons Clifton & Joey, his parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
