Obituary

Gordon Granlie, age 53 of Douglas, ND, formerly of Washburn, ND, died Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND.

Funeral Services: 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2007;
Birka Lutheran Church - rural Washburn, ND;
Rev. Joel Sherer, Officiating;

Interment: Birka Lutheran Cemetery;
Visitation: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM Monday at Goetz Funeral Home - Washburn;
Tuesday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.

Gordon Gene Granlie was born April 19, 1954 at Bismarck, ND, the son to Randolph & Evelyn (Sellon) Granlie. He attended Washburn Public School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972. Gordon was honorably discharged and remained active with the Army Reserve for several years. Gordon married Susan Anderson on November 20, 1981 in Bismarck, ND and from this twenty year union, a son (Christopher) and daughter (Amber) were born. Gordon was employed by Burleigh County as a road maintenance engineer for several years. He was later employed as a truck driver for several employers throughout McLean County. He additionally operated a lawn care business along with his father for many years. On July 22, 2006, Gordon married Sandra Leidholm in a family ceremony at their homestead near Douglas, ND. Gordon accepted Sandra's children as his own and involved them in every aspect of his life. He enjoyed working outdoors and made an effort to witness every sunrise and sunset. Gordon loved animals and held a true passion for horses. He enjoyed teasing his children and grandchildren and welcomed everyone as a friend. Gordon's final act was to give the gift of life through organ/tissue donation.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Granlie of Douglas, ND; daughter, Amber (Trent) Bennett of Mandan, ND; 2 step-daughters, Kristine Flath of Garrison, ND, & Kayde Flath of Garrison, ND; step-son, Levi Flath of Douglas, ND; 2 grandchildren, McKenzie & Trae; 3 sisters, Glenda Randle of Albuquerque, NM, Gayle Haugk of Rio Rancho, NM, & Geneva Scheer of St. Cloud, MN; 3 step-sisters, Violet Hanning of Washington state, Janice Hanson of Washburn, ND, & Becky Gruenberg of Washington state; 2 step-brothers, Billy Holznagel of Washington state, & Robert Holznagel of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son (Christopher), and brother (Tommy).
