Goldie Alberta (Wilson) Maynard was born March 3, 1928 in Bismarck, ND to Jesse & Alberta (Fraser) Wilson. She attended school in Bismarck through the 8th grade. Goldie worked at the Golden Maid Ice Cream store in Bismarck until she married Lloyd A. Maynard, Jr. on February 2, 1945 in Bismarck. Following their marriage, they moved to their farm near Wilton where they raised three children. She worked at the café and bowling alley in Wilton and helped with farm work. Goldie had the gift of hospitality, she was always willing to help out where needed and had a good heart. She didn't know the word "no" when it came to giving and helping others. One of her joys was helping out in the nursery at Mission Evangelical Free Church where she taught Sunday and Bible School for many years and helped out in the kitchen. Goldie's favorite pastimes were baking, gardening, canning, and playing a good game of pinochle. People came all the way from Montana to eat her home canned dill pickles and homemade buns.
Goldie leaves behind her husband, Lloyd Maynard of Wilton; son, Wayne (Pauline) Maynard of Wilton; daughter, Jean (Jerry) Monroe of Wilton; daughter-in-law, Ellen (Joe) Retterath of Stanton; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; three sisters & one brother.
