Gertie Wirtz, age 84 of Underwood, ND died Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.

Interment: Underwood Cemetery;
Visitation: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Thursday at Goetz Funeral Home - Underwood;
Friday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.

Gudrun "Gertie" A. Wirtz was born June 16, 1922 at Turtle Lake, ND the daughter to Halvor & Anna (Anderson) Seltveit. She was raised on her parents farm near Turtle Lake and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1941. Gertie married Henry "Hank" Wirtz on July 25, 1941 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church of rural Turtle Lake, ND. They lived and farmed six miles west of Underwood, ND for many years. They moved into Underwood permanently in 1971. Gertie worked as an Avon sales representative for many years. She enjoyed dancing, visiting with friends, crocheting, and sewing. Gertie was an active member of the Underwood Senior Center and the Augustana Lutheran Church. Her husband, Henry "Hank", passed away in December 2002. She moved to Bismarck and lived with her daughter for several years before moving to the Prairieview Nursing Home in May 2006.

She is survived by her Son and Daughter-in-Law, Gene & Kim Wirtz of Underwood, ND; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Audrey & Clarence J. Sayler of Bismarck, ND;
4 Grandchildren, Austin & Colton Sayler, Jeremy & Maria Wirtz; 1 Brother, Alvin (Lylithe) Seltveit of Renton, WA; 1 Sister, Alta (Hilbert) Heffele of Sedro Wooley, WA;
1 Sister-in-Law, Vernice Seltveit of Woodby Island, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Gertie was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Henry), daughter (Marlene Gail Wirtz), brother (Arne Seltveit), & sister (Vera Felland).
