GERALD PRESSER, 74, of Turtle Lake, died October 15, 2009, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 AM CDT, Monday, October19, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, with Pastor Betty Stedman officiating. Burial will follow at the Turtle Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 PM CDT, Sunday, at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, ND.
Gerald (Jerry) Lee Presser was born on March 7, 1935, at Underwood, ND, to Gust and Ruth (Oldervik) Presser. He was raised in the Turtle Lake area, attending Turtle Lake Grade and High School. During those years, he helped his parents deliver milk twice a day to Turtle Lake households. On June 20, 1954, he married Janet Elaine Krause at Peace Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake. Together they farmed six miles northeast of Turtle Lake for many years.
In years past, Jerry was active in many organizations, some of them being the local 4-H, Church Council, Lions Club, South McLean Soil Conservation District Director, McLean –McHenry Mutual Insurance Board, Turtle Lake Cenex Board, Area IV SCD-ARS Research Farm Chair Advisory Board, and was recognized in 1994 as Zero-Till Farmer of the Year.
He is survived by his children, Jeff (Debbie) Presser, Turtle Lake, Joan (Steve) Herzog, Kalispell, MT, Jim (Chellee) Presser, Turtle Lake; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Huelsman, Bismarck, Neal Presser, Bismarck, Crystal (Garrett) Pence, Missoula, MT, Michael (Magdalene) Herzog, Bend, OR, Hailee and Ashlee Presser, Turtle Lake; five great-grandchildren, Bridger, Margot, Iris, Harper and Haven.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janet.
