Gerald Oberg, age 90 of rural Wilton, ND, died December 23rd, 2011 at St. Gabriel's Community in Bismarck.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, Dec. 27th at the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton with Pastor Cathy Bliss officiating. A time of fellowship and lunch will follow. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in Washburn.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn.
Gerald V. Oberg was born May 1, 1921 at rural Wilton, ND to Emil & Ida (Fahlgren) Oberg. He attended country schools near Washburn and as a young adult entered the U.S. Army. Gerald served his country during World War II and following his honorable discharge returned to the Washburn area to farm. He married Marjorie Hansen on December 22, 1947 in Washburn. During his farming career he served on numerous boards and commissions, some of which included McLean Electric, North Dakota Statewide Rural Electric Cooperatives, Washburn Cenex, Washburn School Board, McLean County Water Board, McLean-Sheridan Rural Water District, and the A.S.C.S. (currently the Farm Service Agency).
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marjorie "Marge" Oberg of Wilton; four sons, Neil (Jo) of Milliken, CO, Lynn (Melanie) of Washburn, Perry (Brenda) of Washburn, & Emil "Skip" (Pam) of Wilton; one daughter, Jeral Jan (Terry) Trzpuc of Washburn; 11 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (Carl & Kenneth), and one infant sister.
