Freda Violet (Walcker) Voth passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the Garrison Benedictine Living Community in Garrison, ND. She was 96 years old and was born on September 11, 1928, in the house on the Dunbar place, 13 miles NW of Turtle Lake, ND. She grew up on the John and Katherine Walcker farm NW of Turtle Lake and she was one of 13 children. The family farm is now the residence of Jason & Susan Walcker. Freda attended various country schools in the area and finished the 7th grade at the Nathan Schoolhouse located one mile South of the Walcker farm. Freda married Arlo Voth on December 18, 1949, in Garrison, ND in the parsonage. The couple lived on the Voth family farm 18 miles NW of Turtle Lake, where Bob and Karen (Okerson) now reside. The children of Freda are Linda, Robert, Tim and Tammy.

Freda was a farm wife, worked occasionally in the Turtle Lake bar, was a flag woman with Lindteigen Construction, a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and helped her daughter, Linda, in the flower shop in Turtle Lake called "Heaven Scent". She was the glue that brought the kids and grandkids home for special gatherings. Freda enjoyed bowling, puzzles, playing pinocle, listening to Gospel music and visiting with her family. She also milked cows along with washing the milking machines every morning on the farm. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed many people. Arlo and Freda moved off the farm and retired in Turtle Lake in the 90's. Arlo died from cancer on November 1, 2014. In November 2022 Freda moved to "The Meadows" a Benedictine Living Community in Garrison, ND. Once at "The Meadows" she escaped all of her worries about the upkeep of her home, yard and snow removal in Turtle Lake. Freda loved her new apartment and the residents. She became known as the "Puzzle Queen" and brought many smiles to her friends there. In January 2025 she moved to the Garrison Benedictine Living Community, where she passed away peacefully. She will be greatly missed! The family would like to give a special thank you to Pam Trueblood, her niece, for stopping by and visiting with "Auntie" and treating her with kindness and love over the years.

Freda is survived by her children, Linda & Gene Hummel (Garrison, ND), Robert & Karen Voth (Benedict, ND), Tim & Sharon Voth (Spirit Lake, IA) and Tammy Rodacker and significant other Carvel Lick (Turtle Lake, ND); brother, Virgil Walcker (Phoenix AZ) and sisters, Maryann Seidler (Bismarck, ND) and Helen Smith (Chula Vista CA); eleven grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters and many nephews and nieces. May Freda's memory bring pleasant thoughts to her family and you!

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Minister Sam Trottier and Pastor Tim Voth officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.  Interment will be held in the Turtle Lake Cemetery.
