Obituary

Frank Weisgarber, age 92 of Hensler, ND, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, Sept. 17th at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn with Father Frank Schuster as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery of Center, ND.

A prayer service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the church followed by visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.

Frank was born November 16, 1919 in Yucca Township, Oliver County, North Dakota to Morris & Emilia (Winschell) Weisgarber. He attended Oliver County schools thru the 8th grade. As a young man, Frank enjoyed playing baseball and in one game pitched a no-hitter, striking out 18 guys in a row. Frank served with the Seabees (C.C.C.) for a short time. He married Elizabeth Freidig on February 24, 1941 in Center, ND. Frank worked at the Sanger Sawmill for several years. He later worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) measuring grain bins and served as the Oliver County Weed Officer for four years. Frank farmed and ranched near Hensler for many years until his retirement in 1984. His wife Elizabeth "Lizzie" passed away in March 2004. In his later years, Frank could be found selling sweet corn on Main Street in Washburn. He enjoyed trips to the casino and playing bingo. Frank continued to live in Hensler until November 2010 when he moved to the Waterford in Bismarck. In July 2012, he became a resident of the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood.

He is survived by his three children, Molly (Lowell) Flowers of Washburn, Bob (Sandra) Weisgarber of Hensler, & Carol (Wayne) Leidholm of Hensler; grandchildren, Jay (Tamme) Flowers of Horace, ND, DeAnn Fields (Randy King) of Bismarck, Lee (Annette) Weisgarber of Hensler, Kristi (Todd) Schreiner of Washburn, Cassie (Matt) Binsfeld of Hensler, & Brittany (Cassius) Doremus of Peoria, AZ; eight great-granchildren; & two great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Catherine Carpenter of Wheatland, WY, & Frances Hagel of Hazen.
