Frank H. Manderfeld, age 76 of Washburn, ND died Monday, February 23, 2009 at a Bismarck hospital.
Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, Feb. 28 at St. Edwin's Catholic Church in Washburn with Rev. Frank J. Schuster, Celebrant.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM -7:00 PM Friday at St. Edwin's Catholic Church, and continue Saturday, one hour prior to time of funeral mass.
A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 PM Friday at the church, following the Knights of Columbus Fish-Fry, in which Frank in years past so proudly served.
Interment will be held Monday, March 2 at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Paul, MN.
Frank was born August 7, 1932 in St. Paul, MN to Robert & Theresa (Noeker) Manderfeld. He married the love of his life, Rosemary Duban, in 1961 at St. Paul. He graduated from NDSU with an Ag Education degree in 1965. He taught high school at Buffalo, ND for 4 years, New Rockford, ND for one year, and Washburn, ND for 24 years. He was passionate about teaching and continued to substitute teach within months of his death. Frank was actively involved in his community. He served on the Washburn City Commission for eight years and the Airport Commission. He was also active with the Knights of Columbus, FFA Alumni, and the area Meals on Wheels. He was awarded FFA's highest honor, the "American Farmer Degree". He held leadership positions with St. Edwin's parish and taught Catechism. He was a life-long learner, curious about many things and always willing to share a story or a joke with whomever he met.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rosemary (Duban) Manderfeld of Washburn; one brother, Tom (Adeline) Manderfeld of San Diego, CA; three daughters, Margaret Manderfeld of Minneapolis, Ellen Manderfeld of St. Paul, MN, & Mary (Tim) Linehan of Milwaukee, WI; four sons, David (fiancé, Jan Wright) of India, Ed (Laurie Murphy) of Grand Rapids, MI, Gerry of Bismarck, and Stephen of Minneapolis; and three grandchildren, Paul Manderfeld, Shannon and Emily Linehan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister (Elizabeth Scanlon), and one son (Donald).
