Obituary

Frances "Franny" Miller Bonilla died peacefully at age 78 on October 11, 2018 at Ecumen Nursing home in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, after a brief struggle with dementia. She was born on September 6, 1940, in Sacramento, CA, the daughter of the late Frank Bonilla and Irene Morales. Frances grew up in Sacramento, CA. She graduated from Sacramento High School in Sacramento, CA in 1959. After high school she attended college at the Sacramento City College in Sacramento, CA where she received a certificate in Child Development. She worked for both Hill Haven and Royal Manor Convalescent Hospitals as a Nursing Assistant for 5 years. She enjoyed her commitment to serving those in need throughout her life.

In 1975, Frances and her family moved to a small town, Turtle Lake, ND, where she met her husband, Norman Miller. Her family and friends were her true passion and delight. She grew up taking care of her siblings. She and her twin brother Frank Bonilla Jr. were the oldest of the siblings.

Frances was a member of the Turtle Lake Baptist Church, in Turtle Lake, ND and often volunteered her services. She professed her Christian faith in 1981 by being baptized in the church. She loved to pray for others and study scripture. She was always an encouragement to others in her walk of faith. As she devoted her life to serve the Lord, she always let her light shine – always smiling.

Frances is survived by her husband, Norman Miller (Turtle Lake, ND); her daughters, Corina Vallincourt (Fargo, ND), Fidela Jones (Moorhead MN), April Schlafmann (Detroit Lakes, MN), Yvette (Marvin) King (Bowie MD); her son, Nathan Granados, (Minneapolis, MN); her twin brother Frank (Ruby) Bonilla Jr.; her sister, Kay (Frank) Cruz; two stepsisters Phyllis and Cecelia (CA) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Delbert Alva; her parents, Irene Morales and Frank Bonilla and her sister, Patricia Adame.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2018 in Turtle Lakes North Dakota from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Goetz Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Turtle Lake Baptist Church, with a repast following the graveside service in the lower level of the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Frances's life.
