Floyd E. Chrest, Jr., age 65 of Washburn, ND died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at a Bismarck hospital.
Funeral Services: 10:30 AM Monday, August 21, 2006;
First Lutheran Church - Washburn, ND;
Rev. Erik Johnson, Officiating;
A private interment will be held at a later date.
Visitation: 3:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home - Washburn;
Monday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church
Floyd Edward Chrest was born November 15, 1940 at Coteau, ND the son to Floyd Sr. & Irene (Luckman) Chrest. He moved with his family to Bowbells, ND in 1950 and graduated from Bowbells High School in 1958. Floyd continued his education at the Bottineau State School of Forestry. After completing college, he returned to Bowbells and married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Freed, on June 11, 1961. Floyd and Sharon made their home in Bowbells where he worked as an apprentice electrician and later as the Burke County Auditor for two years. They moved to Washburn, ND in September 1966 where Floyd fulfilled his life-long dream by becoming a North Dakota Game & Fish District Game Warden. In 1974, he was awarded the North Dakota Game Warden of the Year honors. On June 1, 1979, Floyd accepted the position of District Warden Supervisor, a position he held until his retirement on January 1, 2004.
Floyd took pride in serving his community and served on the Washburn City Commission for 8 years. He was instrumental in developing the Washburn Public Library and was active in many other civic activities. Floyd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that dearly cared for his family. He was our best friend and greatest hero.

3 Sons, Jon (Tammy) Chrest of Washburn, ND, Michael (Teresa) Chrest of Lincoln, ND, & Danny (Melissa) Chrest of Washburn, ND; 1 Daughter, Jennifer (Troy) Perman of Garrison, ND; 11 Grandchildren; 2 Sisters, Mary Lou (Laurie) Martin of Mohall, ND, & Cora Lea (Gary) Burgett of Minot, ND; and many Nieces & Nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, and sister (Patty).
