Obituary

Eunice Ione Vossler, 93, of Mercer, North Dakota, passed away on March 11, 2026, at CHI Health Turtle Lake. A woman of deep faith, boundless warmth, and quiet strength, Eunice lived a life rich in love, hard work, and devotion to her family. Funeral Service will be at First Baptist Church of Mercer on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at Sannes Family Funeral Home, Washburn, ND on Thursday, March 19, at 5:00PM with a prayer service at 5:30PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Mercer Hillside Cemetery.

Eunice was born on January 27, 1933, to Emanuel and Emma Hinsz. She grew up in the small community of Mercer she would call home for most of her life, graduating from Mercer High School in 1951. It was at Brush Lake where she met the love of her life, Leland Vossler. While Leland served in the United States Air Force, Eunice worked at Provident Life in Bismarck. The two were married on October 12, 1952, and together they moved eight miles south of Mercer to the Vossler family farm, where they built their life over the next three decades.

On the farm, Eunice was so much more than a homemaker. She was Leland's right hand in their grain farming operation, and together they raised pigs and chickens, sold eggs, and milked cows. Eunice took tremendous pride in her garden and was especially proud of her canned pickles and beets. She became well known throughout the community for her kuchen, caramel rolls, and fresh baked bread, the kind of cooking that made everyone feel welcome at her table.

Leland and Eunice were blessed with four children, and the farmhouse was full of love and laughter as they raised their family together. In 1982, the couple built a new house and moved into Mercer, where Eunice continued to garden, bake, and do what she loved best. With the arrival of ten grandchildren, she found a whole new kind of joy. Eunice never missed a birthday for her children or grandchildren, and each one could count on finding a little cash stash tucked inside their card. It was a small gesture that meant the world and spoke to who she was at her core.

Leland and Eunice enjoyed many happy years of wintering in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they loved exploring flea markets together, collecting glassware and enjoying their grandchildren. She was loved by everyone who knew her for her warm heart, genuine kindness, and sincere concern for others.

A lifelong and devoted Christian, Eunice was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Mercer. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her through every season with grace and hope. She now rests in the loving arms of her Savior, reunited with her beloved husband, Leland, who preceded her in death, and brothers Elmer and Elroy Hinsz.

Eunice is survived by her four children, La Moyne(Cindy), Michael, Kimberly(Alan)and Todd; her ten grandchildren; Amber and Jesse Vossler, Jesse and Chris Anderson, Sarah and Katie Vossler, Savannah, Brody and Kynlee Vossler and Cooper Vossler in heaven along with 11 great grandchildren. Her sister Elaine Faudskar, and brother Ellan Hinsz, and a community of friends and neighbors whose lives she touched with her generous spirit.

Eunice's life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and the kind of love that fills a home with warmth and never fades. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
