Esther Mehlhaff, age 83 of Underwood, formerly of Washburn, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Prairieview Nursing Home in Underwood, ND.

Funeral Services: 1:00 PM Monday, March 24, 2008;
Washburn Baptist Church – Washburn, ND;
Rev. Rick Torkelson, Officiating.

Interment: Riverview Cemetery – Washburn, ND;

Visitation: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Monday at the church.

Casketbearers: Allan Ochsner, Roger Ochsner, Jerald Ochsner, James Berreth, Miles Dockter, and Timothy Dockter.

Esther was born June 17, 1924, in Herreid, SD, the daughter of Emanuel and Dorothy Ochsner. She married Rupert Mehlhaff on October 8, 1950. They made their home in Washburn, ND, where they raised their two children. Esther was an active member of the Washburn Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Duane Sorenson of Milwaukee, WI; son and daughter-in-law, Delton and Carol Mehlhaff of Apple Valley, MN; grandson, Kevin Mehlhaff of Woodbury, MN; granddaughter , Kellee (Brett) Roeller of Houston, TX; two brothers, Vern Ochsner of Herreid, SD, and Peter Ochsner of Aberdeen, SD; three sisters, Martha Berreth of Eureka, SD, Lenora Schulz of Mesa, AZ, and Gladys Giedd of Escondido, CA; & many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Mehlhaff; parents, Emanuel and Dorothy Ochsner; and brothers, Ruben, Oscar, Carl and Marcus.
