Ervin Wahl, 89, of Turtle Lake, ND died May 3, 2017 at CHI Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday May 8, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Pastor Sondra Krogstad officiating. Interment will be held in the Goodrich Cemetery, Goodrich, ND with military rites provided by the Turtle lake American Legion Post 133. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Ervin was born March 27, 1928 on a farm near Goodrich, ND the son of Christian and Magdalena (Goll) Wahl. He farmed with his father until being drafted into the US Army in 1950. He was discharged in 1952 and moved back to Goodrich where he worked at Goodrich Machine Company as a John Deere parts manager. In 1955 he purchased the machine company with two other partners. Ervin married Patricia Kaibel on December 17, 1966 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Anamoose, ND. They sold the machine company out in 1976 and moved to Turtle Lake. He worked as parts manager for the Lake Farm Store John Deere until its closing. They moved to Wishek, ND in 1985 where he worked as parts manager for John Deere until retiring and moving back to Turtle Lake in 1992.
While living in Goodrich they were members of Peace Lutheran Church, where Ervin held several offices. He was also active in the Goodrich American Legion, Goodrich Lions Club, Goodrich Fire Department and Ambulance and served on the Goodrich city council.
Ervin enjoyed fishing and gardening and was custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church from 1993 until 2007.
Ervin is survived by his wife, Pat of Turtle Lake; his son, Robin (Kellie) Wahl of Turtle Lake; his grandchildren, Tanner and Karley Wahl of Turtle Lake; his brother and sisters-in-law, Donald (Leona) Wahl of Plymouth, MN and Harriet Wahl of Jamestown, ND and a sister, Delayne (Merwyn) Krein of Goodrich and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wilmer, Clarence and Edmund and a sister, Ida Roesler.
