Emma A. Schuler, age 89 of Washburn, ND passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at Medcenter One Health Systems in Bismarck after a short illness.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 9th at the Washburn Baptist Church with Pastor Rick Torkelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Washburn Baptist Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM Tuesday at the Washburn Baptist Church with a remembrance service at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday, one hour prior to time of service.
Emma was born October 3, 1920 in Mobridge, SD to Emmanuel & Christina (Schuetzle) Hepper. As a young child, she lived with her parents on a farm near Selfridge, ND. Her father passed away when she was 4 years old. Emma was 9 years old when her mother remarried and moved to a farm near Washburn. On October 8, 1939, Emma was united in marriage to Albert "Shorty" Schuler on her family's farm near Washburn. Emma's parents moved into Washburn and Albert & Emma continued to live and work on the farm ten miles northeast of Washburn. Albert passed away on January 19, 1978 at the age of 59. Emma moved to Washburn in the fall of 1988 where she enjoyed having friends over to her house and going out to visit. Emma's hobbies included making quilts, knitting, and crocheting. She also enjoyed playing cards at the Washburn Senior Center. Emma was a long-time member of the Washburn Baptist Church and was active with the Women's Ministry Fellowship.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Cook of Bismarck, & Sharon (Ron) Rosenvold of Mandan; two sons, Wesley Schuler of Washburn, & Robert Schuler of Wilton; nine grandchildren & ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ileen (Ron) Sieler of Menoken, & Elsie Walker of Bismarck; and one brother, David (Helen) Schuler of Devils Lake, ND.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter (Adelle), one sister (Ruby Etro), one brother (Albert Hepper), daughter-in-law (Deborah Schuler), granddaughter (Krista Cook), & grandson (John Cook).
