Emma Legg, age 93 of Velva, ND, formerly of Turtle Lake, ND, died Thursday, March 2, 2006 at a Velva nursing home.

Emma was born March 13, 1912 at Forres, Saskatchewan, Canada the daughter to John & Rosa (Flemmer) Thurn. She attended school in Minot, ND and graduated from Minot High School in 1931. Emma married Elmer Remmen in 1932. They resided in Turtle Lake, ND for many years where she enjoyed singing with many community music groups. Her husband Elmer passed away in 1967. She then moved to Fargo, ND where she worked as a house mother for the Farmhouse Fraternity near the campus of North Dakota State University from 1970 to 1975. She married Edward Legg in 1976. They made their home in Velva, ND where they enjoyed living their retirement years. Emma enjoyed painting and was considered a very good artist. She was a member of the Oak Valley Lutheran Church of Velva and participated in Bible Study groups. Her husband Edward passed away in April 2003. Emma became a resident of the Souris Valley Care Center in February 2004. She is remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by many of her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Frances & Robert Teigen of Shorewood, MN; daughter-in-law, Sharon Remmen of Wickenburg, AZ; brother-in-law, Earnest Schmit of Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law, Ethel Thurn; 3 step-children, Eyvonne Olson, Denise Hillerud, & David Legg; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 9 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands (Elmer Remmen & Edward Legg),
son (O'Dean Remmen), brother (Ted Thurn), and sister (Anne Schmit).
