Elvina Fiedler, age 94 of Mercer, ND, died Tuesday, July 30th, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital of Turtle Lake.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 3rd at the Mercer Baptist Church with Pastor Lucas Wagner officiating. Burial will follow in the Mercer Hillside Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM Friday at the Mercer Baptist Church.

Elvina was born March 20th, 1919 near Mercer, ND, the 12th of 14 children to Sam & Lena (Mehrer) Rust. She grew up on her parent's farm 13 miles north of Mercer and attended Medicine Hill Township grade school. As a young woman, Elvina worked in area homes caring for children, cooking for threshing crews, and assisting with housekeeping duties.

She married Minhardt Fiedler on December 12th, 1940. They farmed south of Butte, ND for six years and then moved to a farm ten miles north of Mercer in 1946. Minhardt passed away in 1993. Elvina continued living on the farm until her health began to decline moving to the Sheridan Home in McClusky for one year. She then became a resident of the Community Memorial Hospital Swing-bed where she has resided for the past four years.

Elvina was a faithful member of the Mercer Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and director of the Baptist Young People for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and attending family get-togethers. Elvina's grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She is survived by one son & daughter-in-law, Dennis & Joyce Fiedler of Mercer; two grandchildren, Chad (Melissa) Fiedler of West Fargo, & Barry (Laura) Fiedler of Mercer; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Jack; two sisters, Helen Russ of Underwood, & Erdina (Arnold) Fiedler of Dousman, WI; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Minhardt), seven brothers, and four sisters.
