Ella Mae Lockrem, 93, passed from this earth into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Missouri Slope, Bismarck, ND. Funeral Service will be at Grace Lutheran Brethren Church, Bismarck, ND on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Turtle Lake Cemetery at 2:00PM.
Ella Mae was born on July 9, 1932, to Jake and Carrie (Berg) Schock on the farm in Turtle Lake, ND where she grew up and attended school along with her beloved siblings.
She married Chester O. Lockrem of Mercer, ND on December 1, 1948, eventually moving and settling in Riverdale where they raised their 3 children, Doug, Sharon and Steve.
Besides being a beloved mother, Ella Mae worked her whole life at a variety of jobs but most cherished were her years as the McLean/Mercer County Bookmobile Lady beginning in 1969 and retiring after more than 25 years. After Chester passed in 1993 and retiring a year later, Ella Mae moved to Bismarck and volunteered at up to 12 different agencies but settled on her most cherished, Protection and Advocacy.
She loved and was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Brethren Church.
Ella Mae's family includes Doug (Mary) Lockrem, Sharon (Clay) Narum, and Steve (Tracey) Lockrem, grandchildren Levi, Jacob, Cory, Jaime, Trevor, Sean, and Derek, plus 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Carrie Schock, siblings Alvin Dale, LaVina, and Loren, Chester, her husband of 44 years (1993), and beloved son, Doug (2005).
She spent her last years at the Terrace, Missouri Slope, and Sanford Hospice.
