Elizabeth "Jack" Wardner, age 88 of Turtle Lake, formerly of rural Mercer, ND, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake, ND.

Visitation: 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home – Turtle Lake;
Monday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Elizabeth "Jack" was born December 30, 1919 at rural McClusky, ND, the daughter to Louie & Dora (Davenport) Jorgenson. She attended rural school north of Regan, ND.
Jack worked as a domestic for several area farm families, including the Doc Ness family farm south of Mercer, ND. On January 26, 1940, she married Alec P. Wardner in McClusky, ND. They made their home on several farms southwest of Pickardville, ND. In the fall of 1958, they moved to a farm south of Mercer where they resided for many years. Jack was very involved on the farm and gave special attention to raising chickens. During the 1980's, she cooked in the kitchen of the Turtle Lake Livestock Sales Barn for several years. She also catered pies to the Brush Lake Pavilion for many years. In the fall of 1993, Jack began assisting her daughter, Bev, in operating Bev's Café in Turtle Lake. She is remembered for her love of family, her willingness to help people, and her tremendous baking talent. Jack was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served as W.E.L.C.A Treasurer for many years. Alec, her husband of 51 years, passed away in December 1991. She continued to make her home on the farm south of Mercer until 2001 when she became a resident of the Sheridan Home in McClusky. She entered the swing-bed unit of Community Memorial Hospital in 2003.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Kayleen) Wardner of Dickinson, ND, Frank (Marlene) Wardner of Mercer, ND, Ron (Sue) Wardner of Coleharbor, ND;
one daughter, Bev (Clark) Jesz of Turtle Lake, ND; daughter-in-law, Karen Wardner of Bismarck, ND; ten grandchildren, Brant (Julie) Wardner, Cory (Mandy) Wardner, Angie (Stan) Misek, Cody Wardner (fiancée Nicole), Jennifer Wardner (fiancée Kenny), John Wardner, Jay Wardner, Sadie Wardner, Kyle Wardner, & Alexis Jesz;
seven great grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Clint) Lowe of Washburn, ND;
two sisters-in-law, Francis Schillinger of Absarokee, MT, & Dorothy Wardner of Conrad, MT; several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Alec), son (Robert), three sisters, & two brothers.
