Elgie Vinje, 82, died August 1st, 2014 at the Benedictine Living Center in Garrison, ND following a long illness.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 P.M. Saturday, August 9th at Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood with Pastor Anna Haugen officiating. A private family burial ceremony will be held prior to the memorial service at Coleharbor Cemetery.
Elgie was born January 26, 1932 at a farm home in the Turtle Mountains, north of Bottineau, ND, a daughter to John & Anna (Larson) Klingenberg. She married Donovan Vinje and together they lived in the Newburg, ND area for 49 years. Elgie served on the Dovre Lutheran Church council in Newburg for many years, serving as President and Deacon. She was active in the Ladies Aid (WELCA) and participated in the "Gifts Program" for several years, filling in for pastors while on vacation leave. Elgie loved playing games and having "tea parties" with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Donovan Vinje of Garrison; one daughter, Diane (Allan) Eslinger of Coleharbor; four sons, Craig (Marty) of Eagan, MN, Mark (Sandy) of Woodstock, MD, Kevin (Bonita) of Minot, & Todd (Brenda) of Alexandria, MN; 17 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Kavli of Grand Forks, & Ann Lervik of Edina, MN; a sister-in-law, Martha Klingenberg of Jamestown; a brother-in-law, Luther Vinje of Landa, ND; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Johnny & Nobert Klingenberg), one sister (Judy Sanbek), and a granddaughter (Jessica Eslinger).
