Eleanore Barbara Gappert was born August 27th, 1935 in Hardin, MT to George and Mary Gress. She passed away with family by her side at Sakakawea Medical Center in Hazen, ND on September 19th, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Stanton with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating. Interment will be held in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church cemetery, Stanton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
The family moved to New Salem, ND where she attended school and met Roger Gappert. They married after she was out of high school on August 22nd, 1956. She and Roger moved to Stanton, ND and started their own trucking company that she was bookkeeper for. Eleanore also became a bus driver for Stanton School and loved all her bus route students. They raised their 5 children in Stanton.
Eleanore enjoyed crafts including; crocheting and quilting and was a wonderful baker and did not hesitate to share recipes or secrets. She took extra special care of her garden and flowers. She also enjoyed fishing, singing and playing guitar with her siblings. She was a member of the birthday club where she and the ladies would get together to celebrate one another and play cards. She especially loved playing pinochle with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought so much joy in her life and she cherished any time spent with them.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roger Gappert; her siblings, Geno Gress, Helen (Norman) Schafer, Rita (Lee) Reynolds; her children, Nadine (Ron) Berger, Dale Gappert, Bruce (Annette) Gappert, Nanette (Brian) Gappert, Norine (Andy) Sutter; her grandchildren, Nikki (Justin) Sackman, Candace Wieger, Dillon Gappert, Kaela Gappert, Michael (Destiny) Gappert, Drew (Selena) Sutter, and Zach Sutter and her great-grandchildren, Seth, Locke, Charlee, Sally, Lonnie, James, Gunner and one more on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Gress; her siblings, Tillie Tibke, Donna Gress, Jeanette Nagel, Linda Tibke, Wayne Gress, Bill Gress and Vicki Pfliger and a son-in-law, Kevin Berger.
