Elaine Ann Scheer, 91, formerly of Underwood, ND died March 7, 2018 at the Benedictine Living Center, Garrison, ND. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, March 12, 2018 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood with Pastor Brandon Woodruff officiating. Interment will be held in the Underwood Cemetery, Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home Chapel, Underwood. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Elaine was born July 24, 1926 on a farm near Pelican Rapids, MN the daughter of Emil and Anne (Svare) Olson. She was baptized in Pelican Rapids and was raised on a farm near Pelican Rapids. She attended 156 North Country School through the 8 ^th grade and graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1944. Elaine also attended teachers college in Fergus Falls, MN and taught country school for a few years. She married Russell Scheer on February 22, 1947 in Pelican Rapids. They moved to Washburn, ND in 1947 where they lived for one year before moving to Underwood where they raised their nine children. Elaine taught kindergarten and was a teacher's aide at the Underwood Public School. She also worked at Radke's Fairway Food for many years.

Elaine enjoyed attending sporting events and always kept her own score sheets. She was asked a couple times for the correct stats by the refs. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was in a canasta card club for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen "Susie" (David) Cooley of Underwood; her sons, Marc (Paulette) Scheer of Elko, NV, Jim (Penny) Scheer of Underwood, Loren (Gwen) Scheer of Cavalier, ND, Jeff Scheer of Licking, MO, Tim (Connie) Scheer of Brooklyn Center, MN, Russell Scheer Jr. of St. Cloud, MN, Lee (Lynn) Scheer of Lewes, DE and Dave (Kim) Scheer of Casselton, ND; 25 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; her brothers, Herb (Shirley) Olson of Detroit Lakes, MN and Dave (Barb) Olson of Moorhead, MN; her sisters, Gwen Jorgenson of Rothsay, MN and Helen Marsh of Detroit Lakes, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell in 1995; two grandsons, Tyler Scheer and David Scheer Jr.; two granddaughters, Michelle Johnson and Melissa Chadwick; one great-great grandson, Jonathan Giardini; a daughter-in-law, Geneva Scheer; two sisters, Karen Sue Olson and Helen Mae Olson; one brother and sister-in-law, Loren (Helen) Olson and two brothers-in-law, Clarence Marsh and Harley Jorgenson.
