Elaine Sayler, age 71 of Underwood, ND passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation: 6:00-9:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home - Underwood;
Monday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church.

Elaine Doris Hoppe was born August 30, 1935 at rural Underwood, ND the daughter to Louis & Ida (Schauer) Hoppe. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Underwood High School in 1952. Elaine married Roy R. Sayler on June 15, 1952 at Underwood. They made their home on a farm six miles southeast of Underwood for many years. She cooked for several local restaurants and will be forever remembered for her cooking talents. Elaine and Roy retired in 1997 and moved into Underwood. Together they raised eight children, who gave them sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed all the love and laughter of family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Sayler of Underwood, ND; 5 sons, Allen (Wanda) Sayler of Woodbridge, VA, Rodney (Linda) Sayler of Tulsa, OK, David (Janel) Sayler of Breckenridge, MN, Richard Sayler and special friend Corina Carroll of Horace, ND, & Ronald (Fiona) Sayler of Farmington, AR; 3 daughters, Barbara (Steve) Dentz of Carnation, WA, Diane (Myron) Schell of Underwood, ND, & Susan Van Asperen of Bismarck, ND; 16 grandchildren, Cassie (Mike) Vorgang of Quantico, VA, Lisa Dentz of Carnation, WA, Kelley & Michael Sayler of Tulsa, OK, Shawn, Andrea, & Heidi Jo Sayler of Breckenridge, MN, Mark & Jason Schell of Underwood, ND, Christopher (Danika) Schell of Washburn, ND, Adam, Eric, & Jared Van Asperen of Bismarck, ND, Nicole & Brittany Sayler of Park Rapids, MN, & Lily Sayler of Farmington, AR;
2 great-grandchildren, Dillon & Kate Schell of Washburn, ND; 1 sister, Janet (Dennis) Folden of Underwood, ND; & several nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother (Wilbert Hoppe).
