Elaine A. Hanson, age 75 of Turtle Lake, ND, passed away at the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital on May 5, 2013, surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 10th at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake, with Father Frank Schuster officiating. Burial will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Golva, ND.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Turtle Lake followed by a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.
Elaine (Rising) Hanson was born January 29, 1938 in Dickinson, ND to Rudolph and Elizabeth (Morton) Rising. She attended country school near Golva, attended Bismarck St. Mary's High School as a freshman and sophomore, and graduated from Regan High School in 1955. Elaine earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Minot State University.
Elaine worked as an L.P.N. at the Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital for 25 years and served as organist of the St. Catherine's Catholic Church for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends.
Elaine is survived by her children, Geraldine (Terry) Kranzler of Wheatland, ND, Gene (Connie) Anderson of Mandan, Rob Anderson of Lovelock, NV, Loran (Jaime) Anderson of Wilton, Jim (Cathy) Anderson of North Branch, MN, LeRoy (Wendy) Anderson of Winnemucca, NV, Jovita (Ernest) Thomas of Copperas Cove, TX, & Rudy Anderson of Wilton; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; two sisters, Catherine Bergan and Betty Fraase, one brother, JoRay (Connie) Rising; and her special friends, Frank and Sally Jerkovich, and Aileen Erdman.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald Hanson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Turtle Lake Community Memorial Hospital or St. Catherine's Alter Society.
