Obituary

Edwin Wagner, age 89 of Bismarck, formerly of Turtle Lake, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 3rd, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Terry Kern officiating and Pastor Lucas Wagner assisting.

Interment will be in the Turtle Lake Cemetery at a later date with the American Legion Post 133 providing military honors.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at Goetz Funeral Home in Turtle Lake. A family service will follow at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday one hour prior to time of service at the church.

Edwin Wagner was born June 23, 1921 near Mercer, ND to Frederich & Mathilda (Naher) Wagner. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Nov. 17, 1942 and served overseas during World War II. Edwin was honorably discharged on Nov. 14, 1945. He returned to North Dakota and married Eleanore Gett on Nov. 29, 1945 in Turtle Lake. They made their home on a farm northeast of Turtle Lake for many years where Edwin farmed and raised cattle. He and Eleanore moved into Turtle Lake in 1982 where they enjoyed their retirement years. Eleanore passed away in 1996 and Edwin moved to Bismarck in 2008. Edwin was very proud of his military service. He was a dedicated 66 year member of the American Legion and served as Sergeant of Arms with the American Legion Post 133 of Turtle Lake for many years.

Left with fond memories are his four children, Carol (Dennis) Wetzel of Fruita, CO, Sharon (Hugh) Seeley of St. Petersburg, FL, Paul (Etta) Wagner of Adrian, MI, & Doug (Patty) Wagner of Lincoln, ND; five grandchildren, Angela, Scott, Jacob, Jordan, & Alyssa; three step-grandchildren, Hugh, Scott, & Kristen; two step-great grandchildren, Hughie & William; he was also anticipating a great granddaughter, Eleanore, in April; three sisters, Clara Schock of Turtle Lake, Leona Goven of Turtle Lake, & Erna Schock of Miles City, MT; one brother, Meiny Wagner of Bismarck; & many nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two children (LaVonne & Joyce), and many brothers and sisters.
