E. Duane Nelson, 91, of Turtle Lake, ND died January 25, 2016 in the Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday January 30, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake. Officiating will be the Rev. Randy Emgarten. Interment will be held in the Turtle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM and will continue 1 hour prior to the services on Saturday all at the church.

Duane was born December 28, 1924 on a farm North of Turtle Lake the son of Norman and Beulah (Jackling) Nelson. He attended country school and graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1942. He married Clarice Mae Sundbakken on January 5, 1943 in Minot, ND. They shared 72 years of happiness. Following their marriage they lived in Minot, Benedict, and Riverdale before moving to Turtle Lake in 1957. Duane worked as a heavy equipment operator for several large projects. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake. Duane enjoyed helping his children with their home projects and woodworking.

He is survived by his sons; Clyde (Bonnie) Nelson, Turtle Lake, Gaylen Nelson, Turtle Lake, Ronie (Karen) Nelson, Canton, PA, Richard (Jennifer) Nelson, Chino Valley, AZ; his daughters; Diana (Ervin) Jans, Mercer, ND, Bernadine (Lloyd) Martin, Wilton, ND, Amy (Harlin) Helm, Deer Park, WA, Caryn (Gary) Jorgensen, McClusky, ND, Joyce (Gene) Schoenberg, Benedict, ND, Deniece Nelson, Underwood, ND; 31 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; his sisters, Norma Hanson, Minot, ND, Elaine Renfrow, Bismarck, ND, Eloise (Gene) Ferruzza, Las Vegas, NV and many nieces and nephews.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clarice in 2015, two brothers, Virgil and Bruce, sisters, Erma Barnesky and two in infancy, a daughter-in-law, Dee Nelson, a great grandson and a great granddaughter.
