DuWayne Crom, age 56 of Washburn, ND died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Rev. Frank J. Schuster, Celebrant
Interment: Riverview Cemetery – Washburn;
Military Rites provided by the Victor B. Wallin American Legion Post 12.
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday at Goetz Funeral Home in Washburn;
Thursday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.
DuWayne was born June 15, 1953 in Watertown, SD to George & Ileen (DeVille) Crom. He was raised on a farm near Waverly, SD and attended school in Waverly. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1972. DuWayne (a.k.a. "Weiner") served in the Army National Guard from 1971 to 1977. He was employed with Watertown Cable TV from 1972 to 1975 and then worked a couple of years for a contractor building power lines throughout the Midwest. In 1977, he started working for United Power Association near Washburn, ND, which is now known as Great River Energy. DuWayne served as a foreman for the Line Crew for many years. On July 13, 1996 he married Stella Mueller in Washburn. He enjoyed his many hunting trips with friends and processing meat at what locals know as "Weiner's shop". He enjoyed working with cattle and his favorite pastime was visiting with friends at his shop. DuWayne was a former member of the Washburn Jaycees, the Eagles Club of Mandan, the local Sportsman's Club, and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Crom of Washburn; one step-daughter, Krystal (Luke) Eberle of Bismarck; his parents, George & Ileen Crom of Watertown, SD; two brothers, John (Cindy) Crom of Sioux Falls, SD, & Roger (Pat) Crom of Watertown, SD; one sister, Georgia (Bruce) Magee of Watertown, SD; two nieces and three nephews; a very special godchild, Brittany Doremus; and several special friends.
