Duane A. Wagner, 79, Bismarck, ND died June 30, 2023 at Baptist Healthcare and Rehab in Bismarck.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Century Baptist Church, 205 Colt Ave, Bismarck.  Interment will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday at Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.  The funeral service will be livestreamed at the bottom of Duane's obituary on this page.

Duane A. Wagner was born on July 17, 1943, in Washburn, ND, to Albert & Evelyn Wagner. He grew up there, graduated from Washburn High School in 1962, and attended college in Bismarck.

Duane married his childhood sweetheart Jeannette Tweeten in 1964, in Turtle Lake, ND. They made their home in Bismarck, ND where Duane went on to work for the Bank of North Dakota. He worked for the Bank of North Dakota for 36 years, retiring in 2002.  After Jeannette's death in 2013, Duane found the second love of his life, Patty Staiger. They met at Century Baptist Church where they married in 2015.

Duane loved spending time with family, friends and traveling.  He had a gift for conversation that made everyone feel right at home. He enjoyed being active, playing board games, and especially visiting with his grandkids. He traveled to more than 40 states in his lifetime for fun and to visit family and friends. He travel throughout Canada and even made it to China!

It is safe to say that even though Duane loved to travel he liked no place better than his home state of North Dakota. Anyone who met Duane quickly came to feel like family. He wrapped them with his love, faith, and passion for life. For these traits, he was greatly loved. He will be forever remembered for the smiles and laughs he brought out of everyone he met and for the picture of a hidden cow he kept in his wallet which was the ultimate ice breaker and laugh maker!

Duane is survived by his wife, Patty; daughter, Barbara (Brent) Schank, Winsted, MN, son, Robert (Heather) Wagner , Big Lake, MN, step son, Marlyn (Lisa) Staiger, Glen Ullin, ND; seven grandchildren Chantel (Ryan) Kobilansky, Breanna Wagner, Connor Schank, McKenzie Wagner, Jarrett Staiger, Camden Schank, and Jordyn Wagner. His sisters Sandra (Pat) Crow, Danville, OH, Deb (Nathan) Gartner, Mandan, ND; sisters-in-law, Karen (Bruce) Wheeler, Bloomington, IN, Sandy (Greg) Kitzan, Bismarck, ND, Donna (Jerry) Schneider, Hebron, ND, Karen (Mark) Fehr, Dickinson, ND; brothers-in-law John (Deb) Tweeten, Mesa, AZ, and Harold Tweeten, Washburn, ND.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannette E. (Tweeten) Wagner, his mother Evelyn (Jesser) Wagner who passed away in 1994; Albert H Wagner who passed away in 2001.  He is also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, H. Kenneth Tweeten who passed away in 2007, Martha (Mehrer) Tweeten who passed away in 2013, and his brother-in-law, Robert Tweeten, who passed away in 1958.
