Duane Stadick, 93, formerly of Underwood, ND, died on Tuesday July 8, 2026, in a Fargo Nursing Home. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bonaventure’s Catholic Church, Underwood, ND on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 10:30AM. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, July 14 from 5:00-6:00PM with a Rosary/Vigil starting at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure’s Catholic Cemetery, Underwood, ND.
Duane G. Stadick was born on August 6, 1932, in Underwood, North Dakota, to George Nicholas Stadick and Minnie Martha (Hassler) Stadick. He was raised in the close-knit farming community of McLean County, where he developed the values of hard work, dedication, and love of family that would guide him throughout his life.
Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Private First Class. Following his honorable military service, he built a long and respected career as a Civil Engineer with Burlington Northern Railroad. He took great pride in his work, helping build and maintain railroad infrastructure that connected communities throughout the region. Known for his dedication, dependability, and strong work ethic, Duane earned the respect of his coworkers and took great satisfaction in providing for his family.
On November 21, 1958, Duane married the love of his life, Irene Iris Hanson. Together they built a home centered on faith, family, and caring for others. They shared many happy years together until Irene's passing on January 9, 2001. Their marriage was blessed with children, grandchildren, and a lifetime of treasured memories.
Throughout his life, Duane remained deeply connected to his North Dakota roots. He appreciated life's simple pleasures, valued honesty and perseverance, and was always happiest when surrounded by family. His quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering integrity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Duane was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Irene Iris Stadick; his parents, George Nicholas Stadick and Minnie Martha (Hassler) Stadick; and many cherished family members who welcomed him into eternal rest.
He leaves behind his loving children: Kenny, Kevin and Stacie Stadick, Karl and Penny Stadick, Koren and Dennis, and Carisa and Trent; along with his cherished grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives were enriched by his steady presence and kindness.
Those who knew Duane will remember his devotion to his family, his service to his country, his commitment to his profession, and the example he set through a life of humility, integrity, and hard work. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love he shared with those around him.
Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard.
