Dorothy "Dottie" Murrey, 69 years, formerly of Wilton, ND died September 7, 2019 at the Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wilton with Msgr. Gene Lindemann officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Wilton. Visitation will be 1 hour before the services at the church on Thursday.

Dorothy was born on September 15, 1949 in Anamoose, ND, the daughter of Jacob and Edith (Stransky) Schnellbach. She was raised and educated in Pennsylvania where she graduated from high school. Dottie married William "Bill" Barton in June of 1970. They lived in Pennsylvania where their two daughters, Renee and Rhonda were born. Dorothy returned to North Dakota in 1975 and she worked as a bartender in Wilton for 9 years. Dorothy married Stan Murrey on June 8, 1984 in Bismarck. She was the head cook at the Wilton School until retiring in 1999 due to the progression of her MS. She also had her own catering business for auction sales and the Bismarck Gun Club.

Dorothy had been a resident of Elm Crest Manor in New Salem for the past 6 years. Dorothy enjoyed baking, cooking, crocheting, sewing, playing cards and pool and will always be remembered for her caramel rolls.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley Murrey, Wilton; Children: Rhonda (Terry) Speckmann, Bismarck, ND, Renee (Todd) DuToit. Washburn, ND and Jeff (Sheri) Murrey, Bismarck; four granddaughters: Lillian, Kendra, Kelsie and Kylee; 3 sisters: Linda Schnellbach, Judy Fogle and Mary Lou (Vance) Anderson all of Pennyslvania and many nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Dustin DuToit; brother, Jackie Schnellbach; sister, Donna Schnellbach; brother-in-law, Mark Murrey; and her mother and father-in-law, Frank and Esther Murrey.
