Dorothy Elvrum, age 86, of Washburn, ND, died May 9th, 2013 at the Benedictine Living Center of Garrison.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 1st at First Lutheran Church in Washburn with Rev. Erik Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Anthony Cemetery near Donnybrook, ND.

Dorothy (Selid) Elvrum was born on Apr 13, 1927, in Watford City, ND, a daughter of Nels and Jennie Selid. She was raised and educated in Watford City and graduated from high school in 1945. Following high school, Dorothy attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

On April 13, 1947, Dorothy was married to Cyril Hennenfent. They had 2 children, Debbie and Wade, and made their home in Riverdale, ND. In 1973, Dorothy married Russ Elvrum and they lived in Washburn. She retired working from Western Area Power Administration in Bismarck.

Dorothy had a great love for her family. She was always kind and compassionate with a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed taking care of and racing thoroughbred horses and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of the Washburn American Legion Auxiliary and the First Lutheran Church of Washburn.

She is survived by her brother, Orville Selid; her sister, Annie Selid; her son-in-law, Mike Miller; and her 2 grandsons, Corey and Shawn Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (Russ Elvrum); her daughter (Debbie); her son (Wade Hennenfent); and four brothers (Ove, Alvin, Norman, and Harold Selid).
