Donna Fay Nelson, 65, Washburn, ND died February 6, 2023 at Sanford Health, Bismarck.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at the Washburn United Methodist Church with Pastor Annie Carlson officiating.  Interment will be held in the spring in Riverview Cemetery, Washburn.

Donna Fay Nelson was born on December 17, 1957 to Morris and Thordyce (Van Zee) Nelson. She was raised and lived in Washburn, ND her whole life.

Donna was born with cerebral palsy but that didn't stop her from enjoying life. She graduated from Washburn Public School. She was employed with McLean County as a receptionist for 34 years. Donna volunteered with the Washburn Volunteer Ambulance Service as a bookkeeper for 44 years. She owned and operated the Nelson's Fun Foods concession stand and mixed tons of mini donut batter and cotton candy sugar.

She was a member of the Washburn United Methodist Church. Donna was in the choir, helped teach Sunday school and other church projects. Her greatest love was making baked goods for coffee during coffee hour at church. She would always make sure she made goodies that the children would love.

Donna's greatest joy were her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Her home was always open to them day or night. She made sure she had lots of baked goods or candy for them. Donna Loved to spoil each and every one.

She loved to go on vacations with family, watch TV, do puzzles, and bake.

Donna had a strong faith in God. She always said that she couldn't wait to get to heaven so God would give her a new body. Even though she had difficulty walking and moving around, she always had a big smile on her face.

Donna is survived by her sisters; Kimberly (Bob) Erlandson, Valorie (Dwight) Hetletved, Lonna Nelson, her brother; Randy (Rhonda) Nelson and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant nephew and infant niece.

Memorials are preferred to the Washburn United Methodist Church, Washburn Volunteer Ambulance Service, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
