Donna Hoel, 86, formerly of Hutchinson, MN and McClusky, ND died February 20, 2016 in the Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake, ND. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date in Hutchinson.

Donna was born September 23, 1929 in McGregor, MN the daughter of Nels and Hannah (Anderson) Werner. She was raised and educated in McGregor. She graduated from the McGregor High School in 1947. Donna married Elwin Strom on May 21, 1949 in Duluth, MN. They lived in Waconia, MN and Hutchinson where Donna worked for the 3M Company. Elwin died in 1978 and Donna moved to Wahpeton, ND where she continued to work for 3M Company. She retired in 1980 and moved back to Hutchinson. She married James Hoel on June 14, 1980 in Nashua, IA. They lived in Huntington Beach, CA and St. Cloud, MN. before returning to Hutchinson. Donna worked for Dr. Kuehl Chiropractic for several years. James died in 2004 and Donna continued to live in Hutchinson. She moved to North Dakota in 2014 to be closer to her daughter.

Donna enjoyed needle work, quilting and spending time with friends and family.

Donna is survived by her children, Scott (Kelly) Strom of Eden Prairie, MN, Bruce (Jane) Strom of Hibbing, MN and Diane "Annie" (Arlin) Fylling of McClusky, ND; her step daughters, Jan Hinman of Park City, UT and Joan (Brad) Peterson of Corpus Christi, TX; 7 grandchildren, Patrick (Melanie) Fylling, Angela (Chris) Stein, Scott Strom, Colin (Katie) Strom, Chris Strom, Ben Strom, and Joanna Strom; 4 great grandchildren, Eisley and Emersyn Fylling, Ellerady Stein, and Kai Strom; 2 step grandchildren, Zach (Kara) Peterson and Matthew Hinman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 4 brothers, John, Clyde, Nels Jr., and Ralph, and a sister Ruth Laajala.
