Donna Eisenmann, 81, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Bismarck and Underwood, ND, joined her love ones in heaven on January 20, 2016 while residing at Clarkson Nursing Home in Rapid City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. Bonaventure's Catholic Church in Underwood. Officiating will be Father Patrick Cunningham. Interment will be held at the ND Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church in Underwood. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Donna was born April 23, 1934 in Hazen, ND the daughter of Leonard and Dorothy (Lange) Retterath. She was the oldest of six children. She attended country school and graduated from Stanton High School in 1952. Donna then moved to Bismarck where she worked for KFYR-TV as a film editor.
Donna married Layton (Husky) Eisenmann on June 13, 1956 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Hazen. They raised their children in Underwood, Turtle Lake, and Washburn.
She enjoyed traveling throughout North Dakota and the upper Midwest and attending high school sporting events throughout McLean County. She enjoyed crafts and participated in many craft fairs. Donna worked as a florist in Washburn, which allowed her some spending money to shop at her favorite department stores. Her love of people led her to many jobs including; Holton's Grocery in Turtle Lake, selling Avon, and Herberger's in Bismarck. She had a ceramic shop in her home and taught classes. She made many beautiful ceramic gifts. When Donna lost her mobility, you could find her "cruising" the mall on her scooter and visiting with new and old acquaintances.
She moved to Rapid City in 2009 where she enjoyed the love of her family and made many new friends. In 2015 Donna moved into Clarkson Healthcare and soon won the hearts of the staff and residents. She could not say enough about the great care she received. Her quick wit and loveable personality will be missed by all.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Mary Beth (Art) Stenkamp of Rapid City, SD; two sons, Bob (Patti Edwards) Eisenmann of Ogden, UT and Joe (Beth-Herbel) Eisenmann of East Lansing. MI; a daughter-in-law, Beth Baron-Eisenmann of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Mandy) Stenkamp, Mitchell (Manda) Stenkamp, Keri Miller, Mason Miller, Matt Miller, Jessie Eisenmann, and Kaleb Herbel-Eisenmann; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Rita Kent of Bismarck, Jane Pearson of Hazen, Kathy (Curt) Birst of Bismarck; brothers, Jim (Gloria) Retterath of Bismarck and Bill (Carol) Retterrath of Center and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Layton, daughter, Lynne Miller and a daughter-in-law, Wendy Eisenmann.
