Donald D Landenberger

Donald D. Landenberger, 87, formerly of Underwood, ND, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at Augusta Place, Bismarck, ND, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 2, 2026, at Buehler Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Pastor Matt Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday in the Zoar Congregational Cemetery, rural Underwood. A light lunch will be served following the service at the funeral home.

Donald was born on September 19, 1938, on a farm near Underwood, Nd the son of Edwin and Helen (Sayler) Landenberger. He attended country school and attended school in Underwood. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1957.

On May 1, 1961, Kate and Don were united in marriage at McPherson, KS. The couple moved up to North Dakota where their first son, Terry was born. They moved back to McPherson where they were blessed with a son, Douglas, and daughter Camey. In 1974 they moved back to North Dakota and made their home on the family farm near Underwood where they raised their family. Don farmed and worked for area farmers until retiring in 2000.

He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving in the country. Don took great pride in putting puzzles together of which he glued and framed. He gave a puzzle to each one of his great grandchildren and sold them at Edgewood. Don truly enjoyed his time at Edgewood where he was crowned Valentine King and enjoyed playing the 6,5,4 dice game with other residents, delivering the Bismarck Tribune to residents and feeding the fish.

Don is survived by his two sons, Terry (Bonnie), Bismarck and Douglas (Alice), Underwood; daughter, Camey (Don) McAuley, Siren, WI; 8 grandchildren, Lacie (Chris) Brueckner, and their children, Alexander (Kaelyn), Kraysten, Connor, Masen and Amaya; Cameron (Meghan) Landenberger and their children, Parker and Declan; Preston Landenberger (Kayla Gilbertson); Melanie (Derek) Marohl and their children, Sylvia and Frederick; Michael (Sheri) Landenberger, and their children, Heather, Hailie, Hinleigh and Haisley; Matthew (Samantha) Landenberger and their children, Donovan and Isla; Sean Blumhardt and Sawyer Blumhardt; his brother, Gary (Gaye) Landenberger of Cisco, TX and sister, Lila Landenberger of Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2021; a brother, Gerald; a sister Velma Schacher and a half brother, Larry Heinle.
