Donald "Joe" Bergquist, 88, Turtle Lake, ND died March 2, 2024 at CHI Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Pastor Russell Lambert officiating.  Interment will follow the funeral service in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Donald "Joe" Bergquist and his twin brother, Bob were born on July13, 1935 to Clarence and Esther (Olsen) Bergquist.  He lived with his family in rural Washburn until moving to a farm NE of Underwood, where he farmed with his dad and brother.

Joe married Paulette Boe on September 29, 1967.  Joe and Pauette moved to Turtle Lake in 1973 where Joe worked for Lindteigen Construction.  When Lindteigen Construction closed, Joe worked for Holen Construction and Harvey Sand & Gravel.  He enjoyed his later years hauling grain for Equity Elevator.  He was very proud to have his CDL license at age 80 when he finally decided to retire.  He enjoyed his horse team, attending basketball games and driving around the countryside and playing cards with his friends.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Lonnie) Lelm; his son,  David (Lee) Bergquist all of Turtle Lake; his grandchildren, Justine (Lucas) Yutrzenka, Landen (Samantha) Lelm, Natalie Bergquist, Abbie Bergquist and Troy Bergquist; his great grandchildren: Layton Lelm and Irene Yutrzenka; his sister, Barb Goehring of Jamestown, ND and 5 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2019; brother, Bob Bergquist; brother-in-law, Clarence Goehring and great grandson, Ryatt Hayes Alyea.
