DeWayne Moran, 61, of Washburn, ND, died on the morning of October 19, 2016. DeWayne had a massive heart attack at his home in Washburn, ND and the doctors said he passed away peacefully and without any pain.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 24th at First Lutheran Church in Washburn with Pastor Erik Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow in Riverview Cemetery with military rites provided by the Washburn American Legion, Victor B. Wallin Post #12. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Remembrance Service at 7:00 PM at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn.
DeWayne C. Moran was born August 10, 1955 at Kensal, ND the son of Robert and Nora (Manley) Moran. He grew up and was educated at Pingree, ND. After graduating from Pingree High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. After serving our country, he went to Bismarck Junior College (BSC) and enrolled in the auto body repair program. During college he worked at the Bismarck Civic Center and then OK Equipment of Mandan. His main career was with Basin Electric Power Cooperative, working his way up the ladder in the Operation positions, at Leland Olds, Stanton, ND and finishing up at Antelope Valley Station, Beulah, until 2008.
He married Peggy Narum at Trinity Lutheran Church, Douglas, ND in 1980. They lived in Beulah, Bismarck, and settled in Washburn in 2001. To this union came daughter, Danika Marie, and son, Camden Robert.
While in Washburn he became very active in the American Legion, Victor B. Wallin Post #12. He was Post Commander for ten years and worked as a Runner with the gaming of the club. He also worked in maintenance of the Riverview Cemetery for several years. DeWayne served two terms on the Washburn City Commission in recent years.
When he wasn't busy working, he enjoyed hunting, lending a hand at friends/family farms, playing cards, watching old westerns, and cooking for family events.
He is survived by wife, Peggy of Washburn; a daughter, Danika (Ben) Smith of Jamestown, ND; a son, Camden (Jenna) of Washburn; his parents, Robert and Nora Moran of Jamestown; his sisters, Sandra (Duane) Broschat of Bismarck, Robin (Glenn) Dunwoody of Jamestown, and Laurel (Patrick) Spaeth of Redmond, WA; a brother, Donovan Moran of LaMoure, ND; his in-laws, Nels and Marion Narum, sister-in-law DeAnne (Robert) Finken and brother-in-law Gary (Shauna) Narum, all of Douglas, ND, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his brother Darrell Moran, his grandparents, Wayne and Mabel Manley and Roy and Sarah Moran.
Honorary Urnbearers will be Duane Price, Scott Harr, Craig Neys, Steve Tompkins, Dan Uehran, Alan Klain, Ray Price Hunting Camp, and DeWayne's fellow Post #12 Legionnaires.
Memorials may be given to Washburn Veterans Memorial, Riverview Cemetery, or Washburn American Legion Post #12.
