Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 13, 2020 at the ND Veteran's Cemetery with military rites provided by the Mandan VFW and the ND National Guard.  There will be a time of fellowship and lunch following the graveside service at the Bismarck AMVETS Club, 2402 Railroad Ave, Bismarck.

Dennis was born in McClusky ND on March 14, 1946 to Lawrence and Ruby (Lauer) Wahl.  He was raised and educated in Turtle Lake ND.  He married Elaine Schlafman on November 5, 1965.  He was drafted into the U.S Army in 1966 and served for a year in the United States and a year in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharge in 1968.  Upon returning home Dennis and his wife, Elaine made their home in Turtle Lake where they raised one daughter, Danielle.  They built their family home with members of their family pitching in to help.

He was a self-employed truck driver.  He enjoyed taking his daughter out in the semi-truck during the summers with him. He retired in 1992.  After retirement he stayed active fishing, restoring vehicles and he loved building and woodworking.  He worked for the Corps of Engineers in Riverdale for a short time.  He also worked with his brother Jim Wahl at the Bayside Marine boat shop in Riverdale.  He later moved to Riverdale and continued working at the boat shop.  He later helped on restoration and transformation of the Riverdale High School which is now the Knights Bar and Grill and later also assisted in the remodel of the Riverdale Burger Stop transformation into the Spillway Coffee House.  Over the years he has helped numerous friends and family members on remodels and construction projects.

Dennis enjoyed spending time with friends and family and loved to play cards and other games.  His great sense of humor and fast wit made him a joy to be around.

He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Wahl; two brothers, Jim and Fred (Colleen); a sister, Judy and one sister-in-law Joyce Wahl and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Richard Wahl and two young brothers, Larry and Jerry.
