Delores Rygh, age 80 of Turtle Lake, ND entered her heavenly home on Friday, July 24, 2009 with her loving family at her side. She passed away at Community Memorial Hospital in Turtle Lake following a battle with cancer.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Thursday, July 30 at Turtle Lake Baptist Church;
Interment: Turtle Lake Cemetery;
Visitation: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Tuesday at Goetz Funeral Home in Turtle Lake and will continue on Thursday, one hour prior to time of service at the church. (No visitation scheduled for Wednesday)
Delores was born July 20, 1929 in Byersville Township, rural Butte, ND the daughter to Henry & Tena (Honcharoff) Skorick. As an infant, she battled illness and was treated by Dr. Stone of Balfour, ND. Delores attended rural school and graduated from Butte High School in 1948 with her three classmates. She continued her education at Minot State Teachers College and received a teaching certificate. She taught at rural schools near Kief, ND and Turtle Lake. She married E. Roy Rygh on June 28, 1953 at Turtle Lake. The couple made their home in Turtle Lake and later moved to Balfour for a short time. They then moved to Rugby, ND where their two daughters were born, Annette & Shereen. They returned to Turtle Lake in 1966 after Roy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Roy passed away in November 1976. Delores worked at the Turtle Lake Public School for thirty years as a cafeteria cook. She enjoyed being around the children and developed many friendships with former students. Delores enjoyed crossword puzzles and making quilts, especially with her quilting friends, Shirley & Violet, and took pleasure in Sunday dinners with her friends, Helen, Judy, & Ardella. She was a faithful member of the Turtle Lake Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. Delores read her Bible on a daily basis and throughout all the tribulations in her life, remained faithful to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She is survived by two daughters, Annette (John El) Rust of Mercer, ND, & Shereen (Terry) Thunshelle of Bismarck; seven grandchildren, Joshua (Trista) Rust of Turtle Lake, Jesse (Amy) Rust of New Salem, Amara Rust, Josiah (fiancée Carrie), Kristen, Kelsi, & Jared Thunshelle, all of Bismarck; two great grandchildren, Keaton & Karson Rust of Turtle Lake; one sister, Joyce Volochenko of Minot; one brother, Delwin Skorick of Billings, MT; one sister-in-law, Alice Skorick of Mesa, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins.
Delores was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers (Leonard & Edward Skorick).
