Delia Margaret Mayer was born to August and Elizabeth (Wagner) Mayer on January 6th 1927 at Castor, Alberta, Canada. She received her education at Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. The family moved to Ferndale, Washington in 1942.

In 1946, while visiting North Dakota, Dee met her cousin's brother-in-law, just off the field. All she could see was his big brown eyes peeking through the dirt; Dee married Theodore Klatt on November 29, 1947 in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in California until the spring of 1948 when they moved to the Klatt homestead north of Mercer. There they raised 9 children; their bookends, 2 boys with 7 girls between.
Dee and Ted moved into Turtle Lake in 1980.

Dee and Ted were complete partners, not in only raising their kids but also working the farm, raising wheat, barley, alfalfa, cattle, and chickens, among other things.

Dee's love of people and taking care of them, showed in her work life, from cooking at the school in Turtle Lake to in-home care of the elderly, and several other pursuits through the years.

Dee leaves behind her sons, Wayne (Cheryn) and Theodore (Michelle), her daughters Linda Stanford (Glen), Inez Klatt, Kristie Klatt (Don Butler) and Teresa Brummond (Boyd). She has one surviving sister, Violet Steiding ("Sparky"), and a brother, Clarence Mayer (Marge). There are also three sons-in-law, Russ Rohde, Jeff Tiedge and Duane "Dewy" Helm, with whom she maintained a special relationship since the death of Gloria in 1989. Last but not least, "Grandma Dee" also leaves 25 grandchildren, 35 (and counting) great-grandchildren, countless other family members and precious friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore, daughters Gloria Helm, Norma Rohde and Vickie Tiedge, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
