Dean E. Swanson, 64, Underwood, ND died November 25, 2020 at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND from complications due to Covid-19. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 4pm to 6pm at Goetz Funeral Home, Underwood. Masks will be required at the visitation and social distancing will be also be required. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the Oak Creek Cemetery, Bottineau, ND at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 with military rites.
Dean was born on July 19, 1956 in Bismarck, the son of Harley and Delores (Pulver) Swanson. He attended school in Underwood and Riverdale where he graduated in 1974. He served in the US Navy beginning in 1974 and served for 15 years. Dean returned to the home farm near Underwood. He worked for Washburn Power and Equipment for several years. Dean married Debby Boehnke on May 17, 1997 in Underwood. Together, they started D & D Repair in Underwood. They later moved it to Dean's dream shop at their residence north of Underwood. He continued his repair shop on a part time basis and he also worked as a heavy equipment operator for McLean County. Dean worked out of the Garrison shop and later transferred to the Underwood shop where he was currently a blade operator.
Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, dragging vehicles home to fix them, attending garage sales and auction sales and spending time with family and friends. Dean will always be remembered for his love of wheeling and dealing and his willingness to help others.
He is survived by his wife, Debby of Underwood; his mother, Marlys Swanson of Underwood; one brother, Bucky (Dee) Hinsz; six sisters: Margie (Byron) Fiedler, Kathy (Marvin) Neumiller, Marva (Tim) Johnson, Claudine Pochant, Nancy (Chuck) Allen and Susan (David) Sheppard; brother-in-law, Grant Boehnke, sister-in-law, Mary Boehnke; a uncle, Valdon "Valdy (Pat) Swanson and many nieces and nephews
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law: Richard & Marian Boehnke and brother-in-law, Ross Boehnke.
