Dean
Hieb
April 6, 1952 – February 25, 2025
Dean Dallas Hieb, 72, of Mandan, ND, died Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Miller Point Nursing Home, Mandan surrounded by his family. A celebration of his life will be held from 11:00-2:00PM on Saturday March 8, 2025, at The V3NU3, Mandan, ND. Cremation has already taken place.
Dean was born in Harvey, ND on April 6, 1952 to Fred Hieb and Perina (Bender) Hieb. He was raised in Goodrich, ND with his three older brothers and younger sister. He attended Goodrich Public School, graduating in 1971. Starting in the 7th grade he played basketball and had such a talent for the sport. He had also taught himself how to play the drums. Goodrich is the same place he eventually became a farmer with dairy cattle.
On June 30, 1972, Dean married his wife, Debra "Debbie" (LaCoe) Hieb. Together they were blessed with five children, one daughter and four sons. In the mid-80's is when he and his family relocated to Bismarck, ND. In his early twenties, for roughly seven years, Dean was the drummer for the band Get Down with Crystal, alongside band members Hank Helm, Chuck Lang and Dennis Weinmann. Around March of 1991 is when Dean, Debbie and their four sons moved to Chandler, AZ until August of 2000, when they moved back to Bismarck.
Over the years, Dean loved traveling, motorcycle trips, long getaway drives, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to see and explore new places. His life partner, aside from his wife, was his beloved dog and companion, Sandy. He made sure to include her in every and anything he did, as much as he could. What Dean found to be of most importance was simply sitting around the table, talking with his children and grandchildren. Quality time with them was something that was so enriching to him. With his grandchildren, he also made it a point to teach them to play cards, like Blitz, while also teaching them new life skills. Family always came first and he loved them very dearly.
At the time of his death, Dean was unable to work due to his health. However, he had worked construction and was a concrete finisher for a large portion of his life. Most notably, he worked at Coal Creek Station in Underwood, ND for 11 years.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Hieb, daughter Jennifer Hieb, sons Travis & Jesse Hieb, eldest grandson Jake (Codi) Olson, granddaughter Mercedes (Donnie) Harrison & youngest grandson Corbin Barker, great-grandsons and great-granddaughters Carter Olson-Weichel, Malakai Harrison, Maliyah Harrison and Gabriella Olson, sister Emma Hieb, sister-in-law's Cheryl Pellett, Patti (Paul) Graumann, brothers-in-law Don Grad and Keith (Peggy) LaCoe and many nieces and nephews.
