Obituary

David Bryon Werre, 49, of Underwood, passed away suddenly of a massive stroke, Wednesday, November 12, 2014. He died while hunting, one of his favorite past times. In fact, even on his last hunt, he wouldn't go home empty handed, bagging one last doe.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at The Underwood High School gymnasium with Pastor William Traphagen and Pastor Les Wolfgram officiating. Burial will follow in the Underwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, Underwood followed by a 7:00pm prayer service. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm at the church. There will be no visitation at the school.

Dave was born September 20th, 1965, in Bismarck, to George E. Werre and Lois M. Werre. He was a brother to Steve, Brenda, and Wanda.
Dave lived life to the fullest from the start. He loved sports, and was a three-sport athlete through his school years. He knew what he accomplished in high school, and made sure others knew it. It was always a point of pride for him that he could still race those high school boys and beat 'em. He could often be found with Nick and his friends playing football out in the front yard, or playing their home version of volleyball with the Kastrows.

After high school, Dave began college in Fargo at NDSU. While there, he met the love of his life, Suzanne, whom he would marry on June 13, 1987. Shortly after starting school, Dave took a job at Coal Creek Station near Underwood. He was employed there as a utility worker until his passing. He enjoyed being on the rescue team out at the plant, including teaching others out there some new tricks. Dave didn't talk about work a whole lot, but when he did, it was usually about the times he spent "not working" rather than the times he was swamped and busy with work. Dave loved to B.S. with everyone, especially his favorite work buddies "Rico," Les, and Jared.

Dave and Sooz have two kids, Nick, 25, and Ali, 23, both living in Fargo now. Dave was an amazing family man, and encouraged his kids in everything they did. He didn't even mind giving Sooz the foot rubs she was always asking for, and she still says he is the most handsome man she has ever met. He knew his greatest accomplishment was their two wonderful children.

Many of the kids around the neighborhood would agree he even became their "second dad". His being a "dad" wouldn't stop there, either, as he was one of the most recognizable dance dads across the state. He loved "his" dance girls too, and was proud when he was crowned "just one of the girls," by the team. He wore his tiara proudly.

Dave was a very active member of the Underwood Fire, Ambulance, and Rescue Squad for many years, and would give his time to help others around town with anything they needed as well. He could make even the sickest patients feel better and smile on their trips to the emergency room. He thoroughly enjoyed the rescue aspect of the department, and loved to show everyone how it was done…he was a little cocky.

In his free time, you would often see him out in his yard, which he took pride in; making it a nice place to throw the ball for Kady, his constant companion. In the winter, although he may have done it begrudgingly, he would still help Sooz make a mess in his yard putting up all the holiday decorations.

Hunting was a big part of Dave's life as well. He shared his passion with his family, and would never turn away a new person that wanted to try hunting out. Even if the hunt was unfruitful, he and his hunting buddies would always have a great time. He made several hunting excursions with Dan and Chad, and eventually with his son, Nick, too. The stories the boys would come back with were always priceless and unforgettable.
The weekend before he passed away, Dave took Ali deer hunting for the very first time.

Dave's personality was intoxicating. He would never admit it, but Dave was quite the flirt. If he teased you, you knew that he liked you. He cherished his relationships with his "girlfriends" Wanda and Lisa, and his best friends, Chad (love you, man), Dan, Farmer Paul and Butchie.Dave will be sorely missed by all those who knew him.

Dave is survived by his wife of 27 years, Suzanne, two kids, Nick and Ali, one brother, Steve (Patti), two sisters Brenda Ohnstad (Gary), and his "baby sister" Wanda Erhardt (Dale), mother Lois, eight nieces and nephews, and of course his dog, Kady, and his cat, Flash. He was preceded in death by his father, George.
Night, night, love ya, sleep good.
