Daniel Ray Mayer, 71, Mandan, ND formerly of Coleharbor, ND died November 16, 2023 at his nieces residence in Mandan under the care of his family and hospice.  Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Riverview Cemetery, Washburn, ND.

Daniel Ray Mayer was born on November 27, 1951 in Bismarck N.D. to John and Frieda (Bettger) Mayer of Washburn N.D.  Daniel was the youngest of six brothers; Martin, Ronald, Donavan, Richard, Robert, and Daniel.

Daniel Mayer lived his early life in Washburn where he attended Washburn Public School. Daniel discovered he had a love for lock smithing and received achievement awards for his work. When Daniel had free time, he enjoyed mechanical work on vehicles and enjoyed riding motorcycle. He subsequently moved to Coleharbor where he resided for many years with his cats. Daniel was a cat lover, he loved every single one of them and they loved him.  He relocated to Mandan in later years to be closer to family. He had his little companion, (Gemini), his little kitten, living every day by his side. He loved her like nothing else mattered in the world and she loved him till the very end. She was his guardian angel who helped him though his worst days. Daniel spent his free time with his big brother Robert, where they spent time with his dear friend Joann Anderson. Joann was always there for him helping him when he needed it even on days they just needed a chat. Later through his life, Daniel was diagnosed with cancer and proceeded in hospice care with his niece, Joanna Zacher, and her husband, Robert Zacher, till his passing. Daniel Mayer had much support and created many memories with his family. He was loved til the very end and was preceded in death by his father John, his mother Frieda and two brothers Martin and Ronald.

He is survived by brothers, Donavan (Nanette) of Paynesville MN, Richard (Dorothy) of Albany OR and Robert of Mandan ND and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, alongside his father in Riverview Cemetery in Washburn.

He will be escorted by family, Robert Mayer (brother), Joanna Zacher (niece), Robert Zacher (nephew), Samantha Hipsak (niece), Sean Blum (nephew), and Shelby Bethke (niece).
