Obituary

Cole Helmers, 24, of Center, ND died June 28, 2022 due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center with Pastor Dennis Ristvedt officiating.  Interment will be held in the church cemetery.  There will be a prayer service at 6:00 PM Tuesday at the church.

Cole was born on March 24, 1998 in Bismarck, ND, the son of Dwaine and Jenny (Pfleiger) Helmers.  In 2000 he was joined by a brother Cody and in 2001 the youngest brother Connor arrived.  This began the adventures of 3 little boys, led by big brother Cole.  From toddler to grade school age, they could always be found together pulling each other around on something they thought would be fun to ride.  They could make anything fun, such as a car hood, a lawn mower, kayak, a recliner or just about anything they could find to drag around.  After multiple trips to the ER, for broken bones and stitches, the doctors got to know Cole by his first name.

In high school, Cole played football and basketball at Center High School.  He loved to play football and gave it his all in every game.  Cole also enjoyed trips to Montana to hunt mule deer or trout fishing with his uncle.  He also loved to listen to stories with old friends.

Following graduation, he attended BSC for Farm and Ranch Management.  Cole figured out it was easier for him to learn by doing instead of in a classroom.  He started working for RiverAg in the feedlot before he moved to Steele where he was currently working at Dewitz Ranch and Feedlot.  Cole truly loved the work he was doing and the opportunity he had to do a lot of work.  Cole was always respectful, helpful and courteous to people.  He didn't care what walk of life you came from, if you needed a friend, you had one with him.  Cole also enjoyed ranch rodeoing with his friends and his brothers as well as cowboys from other teams.

Cole always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He had a special bond with his little cousin Everly.

Cole is survived by his parents:  Dwaine and Jenny Helmers of Center; 2 brothers:  Cody (Amber) and Connor both of Center; Grandparents:  Mike & Jon Pfleiger of Washburn, ND; Uncle Chris and Aunt Andy Pfleiger of Washburn, ND; cousins:  Rachel, Everly, Mathew and Garrett; Aunt Denise Abbott of Lewistown, MT; special friend, Monica and many other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents:  Donald & Della Helmers and uncles: Rodney and Loren Helmers.
