Clifford "Cliff" Smith, 51, Hensler, ND died May 20, 2019 at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, May 25, 2019 at First Lutheran Church, Washburn with Pastor Erik Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be held a later date in the Hensler Cemetery.

Cliff was born November 15, 1967 in Bismarck, ND the son of Vernon and Sally (Russell) Smith. He was raised and educated in Stanton and Hazen. Cliff graduated with a GED from the Job Corps in Box Elder, SD. He served in the North Dakota National Guard for a short period of time. Cliff married Jessie Green on December 28, 1995 in Stanton, ND. He became a member of the Local Iron Workers Union 793 and was a "boomer" who travelled throughout the United States. Cliff also ranched and lived West of Hensler with his family.

He had a passion for horses, he could often be found riding or giving rides to children. Cliff also enjoyed the great outdoors by hunting and fishing on the Missouri River bottoms where he was raised. He will always be remembered for his love of family, especially his son, daughter, nieces and nephews.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Jessie of Hensler; his son, Kyle and his daughter, Karly both of Hensler; his parents, Vernon and Sally Smith of Hensler; his sister, Annette (Bruce) Gappert of Hensler; his brothers, Mack Smith of Hensler and Russell (Robyn) Smith of Washburn; his nieces, Kortnie, Kaela, Katelyn and Ashley; his nephews, Dillon, Lukas and Jimmy and many great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford and Gayle Smith and Charlie and Marie Russell, a brother Locke, aunt and uncles, Jeannette (Lee) Stephens, Bill Russell and a cousin, Lonnie Russell.
