Clarice Ardell Ockert was born on July 14, 1935, in Mercer, ND, the daughter of Martin & Agnes (Bille) Ockert.  Clarice was raised and educated in the Turtle Lake area.  She graduated from the Turtle Lake High School in 1953.  She married Marvin Hofer on October 11, 1953 at Peace Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake.  Together, they farmed with Marvin's family until they moved to Lodi, CA in 1957 where they farmed and owned a grocery store.  They returned to Turtle Lake in 1959 to continue farming.  They retired from the farm in 2012.  During retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the US.  Marvin and Clarice were inseparable, never alone until Marvin's death in 2018.

She moved into Turtle Lake into a condo, where she resided until her health declined. She was the secretary/treasurer of the Turtle Lake Alumni from 1972 to 2008.  She had a strong love for and was very proud of the Turtle Lake community.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the local craft club.  She enjoyed making food for many people and different groups in the community.

Clarice beamed with pride when telling stories of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All of those who were fortunate enough to share in her life knew her for her love of Coke, bingo, traveling, gardening, bowling, and sports, especially all the TLMM Trojan games. Clarice was always a hard worker and had a strong love for her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Gayle Redmond and Connie (Bruce) Neumiller; son-in-law, Les (Tammy) Lelm; grandchildren, Mitch (Stacy) Neumiller, Carmen Maier, Sonja Redmond, Ryan (Brandi) Lelm and Brittany (TJ) Sathren; great-grandchildren, Cadence Maier, Peyton Neumiller, Reagan Neumiller, Kambree Neumiller, Redik Glaser, Hayden Lelm, Ty Lelm and Harper Sathren; sister, Arliss Shefstad; brother, Carlisle Ockert.
