Clara (Wagner) Schock, 96, formerly of Turtle Lake, ND passed away peacefully on May 1, 2016 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake with Pastor Sondra Krogstad officiating. Interment will follow in the Turtle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM at Goetz Funeral Home, Turtle Lake. Visitation will continue Thursday, one hour prior to time of service at the church.

Clara was born on February 22, 1920 to Mathilda (Naher) and Fred G. Wagner on the family farm south of Mercer, ND. Clara met Reinhold Schock at a Lutheran Luther League event, and after a courtship, they were married on June 6, 1943. Together and from humble beginnings, they farmed north of Turtle Lake, building a successful farming operation.

As the daughter of Russian-German immigrants and raised on the family farm, Clara had a strong Christian faith. She also knew the value of service and hard work, and hosted many planned and impromptu social gatherings with family and friends. Out of "Five loaves and two fish", she could put a meal together in minutes for whoever dropped in. She loved to cast from the dock or boat with her personal favorite fishing lure. Clara always had a beautiful flower garden and not one dandelion or weed in the farmyard went unnoticed. Clara was very active at Peace Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake. She taught Sunday school and served as church Secretary/Treasurer.

Clara is survived by her three children, Martin Schock of Bismarck, Marlys (Duane) Knell of Washburn, ND, and Bev Schock of Billings, MT. She was proud of her four grandsons, Marcus (Amber) Schock of Evans, GA, James (Cicely) Schock of Sioux Falls, SD, John (Shannon) Knell of Phoenix, AZ, and Peter (Christa) Knell of Bismarck. She loved her greatgrandchildren, Sara K. Schock, Emma M. Schock, Ryan R. Schock, Keira E. Knell, and Alex J. Knell. Clara is also survived by her brother, Meinhardt Wagner of Bismarck and her sisters, Leona Goven of Mandan, ND, Erna Schock of Miles City, MT, and sisters-in-law, Mirney Wagner of Walla Walla, WA and Verna Schock of Velva, ND, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2013, great granddaughter, Layla Marie Knell, sisters, Emma Grosz, Magdalena Ibbotson, and Elisabetha Just, her brothers, Rudolph Wagner, Otto Wagner, Edwin Wagner, and Rev. Albert Wagner and four siblings died as infants.

The family would like to thank the staff at Valley View Assisted Living facility for their love and care of Clara. They would also like to thank the nursing staff of Sanford Health and Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center for the exceptional care during Clara's final days.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church Care and Share Fund, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center or the Turtle Lake Hospital Auxiliary.

One of Clara's favorite bible verses was "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it". Mom, we rejoice with you, as you begin your new life in eternity in God's holy presence and look forward to seeing you there.
