Charlene Cowan, 78, of Hensler, ND died April 28, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4th at Goetz Funeral Home, Washburn with Pastor Cory Thrall officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Hensler Cemetery.

Charlene was born January 31, 1938 in Alamosa, CO the daughter Dorlin and Vera Faye (Morrison) Wilson. Her family moved quite often, so she attended 16 different schools before graduating from Adam City High School in Colorado. She attended business school, and worked for United Air Lines for 3 1/2 years.

Charlene married Robert Cowan on Feb.26, 1960 in Aurora, Colorado. They moved every 6 months, returning to North Dakota every spring for the farming season. They settled in Washburn in 1965 when their oldest child started school. In 1970, they moved to Hensler, where they purchased the farm that Robert had worked on for many years. They remained there until their deaths.

Charlene enjoyed dancing, painting, gardening, bird watching, bowling, and crafts. She also enjoyed playing cards, music, and visiting with family and friends.

Charlene is survived by her children; Kathy in Texas, Chris and Denice in N.D. and Robby and Cliff in Colorado; her 5 grandchildren,
Tyler, Robin, Cody, Shane, and Nicole; her great grandchildren, Taylee and Luke; her sister, Dorla in Wyoming.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
