Obituary

Caroline Fiedler, age 91 of Harvey, ND, formerly of rural Mercer & Turtle Lake, ND, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at a Harvey nursing home.

Funeral Services: 10:30 AM Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006;
Trinity Lutheran Church - Turtle Lake, ND;
Rev. Karen Nelson, Officiating;

Interment: Turtle Lake Cemetery;

Visitation: 3:00 - 7:00 PM Friday at Goetz Funeral Home - Turtle Lake;
Saturday, 1 hour prior to time of service at the church

Caroline was born October 12, 1915 at rural Mercer, ND the daughter to John & Mary (Lenz) Schmidt. She attended school at the Homes Consolidated School northeast of Mercer. Caroline married Otto R. Fiedler on February 15, 1935 at McClusky, ND. They made their home on a farm 15 miles northeast of Mercer and farmed for 27 years. In 1963, they moved to Minot, ND where Caroline worked as a cook for the Jefferson Elementary School until 1981. They moved to Turtle Lake, ND in 1983 where they enjoyed spending their retirement years. Otto passed away in November 1991. Caroline continued to make her home in Turtle Lake until moving to the Sheridan Home at McClusky, ND in 2004. She became a resident of the St. Aloisius Care Center at Harvey, ND in the summer of 2006. She is remembered for her terrific sense of humor and her cooking talents. Caroline loved playing cards and bingo. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, quilting, and crafting with plastic canvas.

She is survived by 2 sons, Ervin (Deloris) Fiedler of Beloit, WI, Carroll (Verdell) Fiedler of Aurora, MN; 1 daughter, Oralie (Loren) Melom of McClusky, ND;
11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, & 8 great-great grandchildren;
1 sister, Irene (Ted) Walcker of Riverdale, ND; 1 brother, Emil Schmidt of
Turtle Lake, ND; and many nieces & nephews.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Otto), son (James Fiedler),
& 3 brothers (Reuben, Leonard, & Hilbert).
